Head of Information Materials at the Suzhou National Laboratory, Director of the Jiangsu Institute for Third-Generation Semiconductor Research; Researcher and Doctoral Supervisor at the Suzhou Institute of Nanotechnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences; recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, National Distinguished Expert, and a Leading Young and Middle-Aged Scientific and Technological Talent appointed by the Ministry of Science and Technology. Since 1995, he has been engaged in long-term research on the growth of nitride semiconductor materials and related equipment, being among the first internationally to discover the narrow bandgap of InN. He has conducted systematic studies on polarity selection in gallium nitride material growth. He successfully developed high-quality, fully intact 2-inch single-crystal GaN substrates and achieved their industrial-scale production (founded Suzhou Navi Technology Co., Ltd.). He completed the engineering R&D of 4-inch GaN single crystals and recently achieved breakthroughs in key technologies for 6-inch GaN single crystals, maintaining a position among the top three globally in both product and R&D capabilities. Focusing on cutting-edge research in nanomaterials and devices, he has pioneered the development of comprehensive optoelectronic testing technologies and equipment with nanoscale spatial resolution, reaching a spatial resolution of up to 30 nm and enabling the measurement of photogenerated carrier distributions near individual dislocations. He has published over 130 papers, filed more than 100 patent applications, and delivered over 20 invited keynote speeches at international conferences. He serves as Co-Chair of the International Conference on Nitride Semiconductors (ICNS), scheduled to be held in Fukuda, Japan in 2023. This conference is the most important international forum on third-generation semiconductors, organized every two years and rotating among Asia, Europe, and the United States. He was an expert in the nanomaterials thematic group under the 863 New Materials Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, an expert in the Strategic Advanced Electronic Materials Expert Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Deputy Head of the Third-Generation Semiconductor Expert Group, and an expert in the New Display and Advanced Electronic Materials Expert Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Electronic Materials Professional Committee of the China Electronics Society and Vice Chairman of the Optical Materials Committee of the Chinese Optical Society. Since 2021, he has been serving as the Chief Scientist of the Nanotechnology Industrial Chain in Jiangsu Province.
