After obtaining a Ph.D. from the Institute of Semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences in April 2005, he joined the Department of Micro- and Nano-electronics at the School of Information Science and Technology, Peking University, as a postdoctoral researcher. Upon completion of his postdoctoral fellowship, he remained at the university and was promoted to Associate Professor in August 2009 and to Professor in August 2015. From October 2012 to October 2013, he conducted visiting research at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Michigan, USA. He has long been engaged in research on oxide microelectronic materials and devices, with a particular focus on the integrated study of novel resistive switching materials and devices, as well as fundamental research on memristor-based in-memory computing and neuromorphic computing applications. His research spans oxide resistive switching mechanisms, optimization of resistive switching performance, and the application of resistive switching devices in non-volatile logic and neuromorphic computing, yielding numerous innovative achievements. He has published over 130 papers in journals such as Adv. Mater., ACS Nano, IEEE EDL, IEEE TED, and APL, as well as at conferences including VLSI and IEDM. His publications have been cited over 1,500 times in total. He holds more than 30 Chinese authorized invention patents and 4 U.S. authorized patents. He has led numerous national-level research projects, including major projects under the National Key R&D Program, the “Innovation 2030” Major Project, the National Key Research and Development Plan, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has received awards including the Second Prize for Natural Sciences from the Ministry of Education, the First Prize for Teaching Achievements from Peking University, and the Zhengda Teacher Award from Peking University.
