From July 10th to 14th, 2019, "China Materials Conference 2019" was held in China Western International Expo City of Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The conference has set up 42 branches, including energy conversion and storage materials, thermoelectric materials and applications, and nuclear materials, along with four thematic forums covering five major fields: energy materials, environmental materials, structural materials, functional materials and materials design, preparation and evaluation. During the event, more than 7,000 people attended the conference, and more than 4,200 abstracts were received. Besides, more than 2,700 experts and scholars reported their latest research results, and more than 1,200 posters were displayed.
Organized by the Integrated Circuit Materials Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, and under the jointly support of the Shanghai Institute of Microsystems and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Beijing Multidimensional Electronic Materials Technology Development and Promotion Center, the "Advanced Microelectronics and Optoelectronic Materials Sub-Meeting" was held concurrently. The branch meeting aims to promote exchanges and cooperation between experts, scholars and business people in the field of microelectronics and optoelectronic materials in China, share the latest achievements in microelectronics and optoelectronic materials, processes and device research, achieve mutual promotion and common improvement and improve the academic level and technological innovation capability of microelectronics and optoelectronic materials in China.
Xi Wang, the deputy director of the Ministry of Science and Technology and former director of the Shanghai Institute of Microsystems and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, served as the chairman of the "Advanced Microelectronics and Optoelectronic Materials Sub-Meeting". Academician Zhengping Wang of the Chinese University of Hong Kong was honorary chairman, and Academician Deren Yang of Zhejiang University, Chao Zhao, Institute of Microelectronics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Qinghuang Lin of ASML, jointly served as vice-chairmen. Mr. Chao Zhao, on behalf of Academician Xi Wang, gave an opening speech at the branch meeting. More than 100 representatives from the field of microelectronics and optoelectronics from all over the country gathered together to discuss the latest achievements in the field of microelectronics and optoelectronic materials. The venue held a three-day academic exchange in the form of an invitation report, oral report and wall report. These reports cover all areas of microelectronics and optoelectronic materials, including: storage materials and technologies such as PCRAM, RRAM, FeRAM, and memristors; GeSi, GeSn, GaN, Ga2O3, and other materials used in the fabrication of integrated circuits and optoelectronic devices; substrate materials such as Si, Ge, SOI, GOI, SiC and compound semiconductor; process technology and materials such as CVD, ALD, etching; CMP polishing materials, high-purity alloy targets and other integrated circuit manufacturing process materials; advanced packaging materials; assembly of carbon-based functional materials such as carbon nanotubes and graphene; new two-dimensional materials; material detection techniques and methods; material design theory and computational simulation.
13 Scholars, like Professor Zhitang Song from the Shanghai Institute of Microsystems and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Xiangshui Miu from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Jinfeng Kang from Peking University, Guowen Meng from the Institute of Solid State Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Zhiquan Liu, researcher at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Nan Qi of the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Fengyu Li of Jinan University, Professor Xia Guo of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Professor Degang Zhao of the Institute of Semiconductors of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Hongyu Yu of Southern University of Science and Technology, and Professor Xinran Wang of Nanjing University, made a wonderful invitation report. In addition, 30 well-known scholar, including Professor Ping`an Hu from Harbin Institute of Technology, Professor Jinsheng Jia from China Building Materials Science Research Institute Co., Ltd., Professor Hongliang Zhang from Xiamen University, Associate Professor Sumei Wang from Shandong University, and Associate Professor Tiangui You from Shanghai Institute of Microsystems and Information Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, made a wonderful oral report. The warm atmosphere of the venue, the active audience, and the full exchanges among participants played a positive role in promoting the academic level and technological innovation capability of China's microelectronics and optoelectronic materials.
The "Advanced Microelectronics and Optoelectronic Materials Sub-meeting" had 13 invitation reports, 30 oral reports, 22 wall reports, and more than 100 participants. Simeng Niu, from the research group of Professor Xiaotao Hao of Shandong University won the “Excellent Wall Report Award”; and Chen Wang of Tianjin University of Technology won the “Best Wall Report Award”. The researcher of the Microelectronics Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chao Zhao, presented the honor to the award-winning students.
The award ceremony of the "China Materials Research Society Science and Technology Award" was held at the opening ceremony of this China Materials Conference 2019. The teams led by Researchers of Zhitang Song and Professor Jinsheng Jia won the first prize of Science and Technology of China Materials Research Society this year, which indicated that the research results of the sub-committee have reached the domestic leading level. At the same time, this year's Advanced Microelectronics and Optoelectronics Sub-meeting collaborated with Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics (JMS-ME) to publish a special issue to further expand the sub-committee's international influence.
