Yang Guoqiang earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Peking University in 1985 and a Ph.D. in Science from the Institute of Photochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991. He has conducted postdoctoral research at Kyoto University in Japan and the University of Illinois in the United States. As a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ “Hundred Talents Program,” he currently serves as Deputy Director of the Institute of Chemistry, CAS; Researcher; Doctoral Supervisor; and Director of the Key Laboratory of Photochemistry. His research focuses on the molecular design, material synthesis, properties, and underlying mechanisms of organic optofunctional compounds and materials, including the influence of molecular structure on luminescent and nonlinear optical properties, photochemical fluorescent probes, and advanced photoresist materials. He has completed and led numerous key projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the 863 Program, major national science and technology projects, the 973 Program, CAS innovation projects and topics, and NSFC general projects. He has published over 170 research papers in prominent domestic and international journals such as Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Journal of Physical Chemistry, Macromolecules, and Inorganic Chemistry. He has also filed 12 Chinese invention patents and 1 international PCT patent.
