Xingfu Electronics’ 40,000-ton-per-year ultra-high-purity electronic chemicals project has commenced construction in Shanghai.
On the morning of July 31, the 40,000-ton-per-year ultra-high-purity electronic chemicals project of Xingfu Electronics commenced construction in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone. This marks an important step for Xingfu Electronics to accelerate its strategic layout of “one body and four zones” in the field of electronic chemicals, and also represents a key project for implementing the Shanghai Municipal Government’s initiatives aimed at promoting high-quality development of the integrated circuit industry.

Shanghai is an important birthplace of China’s chemical industry and a major hub for China’s integrated circuit industry, boasting significant locational advantages. In September 2022, with strong support from the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone Management Committee, Xingfu Electronics established its presence in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone, planning to build a facility with an annual capacity of 40,000 tons of ultra-high-purity electronic chemicals, as well as a research and development center.
The 40,000-ton-per-year ultra-high-purity electronic chemicals project, which broke ground on the same day, will primarily build production facilities for 30,000 tons per year of electronic-grade sulfuric acid and 10,000 tons per year of electronic-grade functional chemicals. The project is expected to take 24 months to complete. Once operational, it will supply leading integrated circuit companies such as SMIC and HuaHong Macro, providing customers with even more convenient services. At the same time, the project will establish an innovation and entrepreneurship platform for Xingfu Electronics, attracting and gathering top talents from both domestic and international markets, thereby strengthening the company’s R&D capabilities in science and technology.

New materials for microelectronics are “bottleneck” products that hinder the localization of chip manufacturing. In recent years, Xingfu Electronics has successfully developed and put into mass production five major categories—comprising a total of 60 types—of functional electronic chemicals, including electronic-grade phosphoric acid, electronic-grade sulfuric acid, electronic-grade hydrogen peroxide, etching solutions, cleaning agents, regenerants, developing solutions, and film-removal solutions. The company’s total production capacity has reached 284,000 tons. The key technology for producing electronic-grade phosphoric acid has been awarded the Second Prize for National Scientific and Technological Progress. The company holds a domestic market share exceeding 80%, and its domestic market share for electronic-grade sulfuric acid ranks among the top tier in China.
