12.35 billion! In the first half of the year, Ningbo’s integrated circuit industry showed strong momentum.
In 2019, the global semiconductor industry continued to grow, with new technologies and applications emerging constantly. As next-generation information technologies become widely adopted, the semiconductor materials sector will also face both new challenges and new opportunities.
This morning, the China Semiconductor Materials Innovation and Development Conference kicked off in our city.
The conference brought together nearly 300 senior executives from well-known domestic and international semiconductor material companies, manufacturing companies, and packaging and testing firms, as well as leading experts and scholars in the field.
Twelve guests delivered keynote speeches, offering a comprehensive, multi-dimensional analysis—from the global market to niche segments, from automotive chips to 5G technology—of the current state of the integrated circuit industry chain and the global development opportunities it presents.
According to reports, the China Semiconductor Materials Innovation and Development Conference has been held in Beilun for three consecutive years, showcasing China’s achievements in the development of the integrated circuit materials industry both domestically and internationally, while also witnessing the growth of Ningbo’s integrated circuit industry—particularly that of the Beilun Xingang Town.
According to preliminary statistics, in less than two years, a total of 24 integrated circuit industry projects have been established, covering four categories: chip manufacturing, key materials, design, and packaging & testing. The projects have been allocated 635 mu of land under agreement, with a total investment exceeding 13 billion yuan.
With the continuous expansion of SMIC Ningbo’s production capacity and the gradual launch of operations by a number of design-oriented companies such as Tailing Microelectronics, the planned output value within the Xin’gang Town area is expected to exceed 600 million yuan this year.
According to the plan, Xingang Town will achieve a total investment of over 30 billion yuan in the integrated circuit industry within five years, generate an output value of over 30 billion yuan, and drive downstream application output value exceeding 100 billion yuan.
Ningbo is one of the earliest cities in China to develop the integrated circuit industry. Last year, Ningbo made comprehensive breakthroughs in attracting integrated circuit projects, with nearly 70 registered companies covering the entire upstream and downstream industrial chain—including design, manufacturing, packaging and testing, and materials.
In the first half of this year, the integrated circuit manufacturing-related industries in Ningbo City achieved an industrial output value of 12.35 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 14.3%. According to the plan, Ningbo will focus in the future on making breakthroughs in key core technologies such as 5G radio frequency, artificial intelligence, industrial control, and automotive chips, thereby driving the integrated circuit industry toward leapfrog development.
