Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: In the first half of the year, China produced over 100 billion integrated circuits, and 5G and new infrastructure projects are developing rapidly.


On July 23, the State Council Information Office held a press conference to introduce the development of the industrial and telecommunications sectors in the first half of 2020.
  According to a report by The Paper, Wen Ku, Director of the Information and Communications Development Department and spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that China’s industrial production activities have largely resumed, and 5G and new infrastructure projects are developing rapidly. These developments have significantly boosted the growth of the integrated circuit industry. In the first half of the year, China produced over 100 billion integrated circuits, representing a growth rate of 16.4% and maintaining a relatively strong growth momentum.
  In addition, Wen Ku stated that, to promote the development of the chip industry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will continue to implement the National Outline for Promoting the Development of the Integrated Circuit Industry. Following market-oriented principles, it will keep optimizing the industrial environment, fostering collaborative innovation, accelerating talent cultivation, deepening international cooperation, and speeding up the development of the integrated circuit industry.
  On April 23, at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office, Huang Libin, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Director of the Operation Monitoring and Coordination Bureau, stated that new economic drivers are growing against the trend. The MIIT is strongly supporting technological innovation and industrial applications in areas such as 5G, artificial intelligence, the industrial internet, the internet of things, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) networks, big data, and blockchain, and is accelerating the pace of construction of 4G and 5G base stations.
  Huang Libin also stated that, in terms of industrial development, in the first quarter, output of integrated circuits, automated vending and ticketing machines, and electronic components increased by 16%, 35.3%, and 16.2% respectively. In March, the value-added of high-tech manufacturing grew by 8.9%.
