The special projects “R&D and Industrialization of 200mm SOI Wafers” and “Research on Novel Silicon-Based Strain Materials,” undertaken by the alliance’s member units, have successfully passed acceptance testing.

The “Research on Novel Silicon-Based Strain Materials” project is jointly undertaken by the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University. The project has developed technologies for the growth of silicon-based strain materials and has successfully fabricated strain silicon on insulators, germanium-silicon on insulators, strain silicon on bulk silicon, and germanium-silicon on bulk silicon. 4 The substrate material was grown, and device verification was performed.
