The national major science and technology project “Technology Development and Industrialization Capacity Enhancement for 200mm Silicon Wafers,” undertaken by Youyan Semiconductor, has passed acceptance testing.
On May 8, 2017, the Implementation and Management Office and the Overall Group of the National Key Science and Technology Major Project “Manufacturing Equipment and Complete Process Technologies for Ultra-Large-Scale Integrated Circuits” (hereinafter referred to as the “02 Major Project”) organized a task expert panel and a financial expert panel to conduct the formal acceptance of the project “Technology Development and Industrialization Capacity Enhancement for 200mm Silicon Wafers,” undertaken by Youyan Semiconductor. Leading officials from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and the Chief Technical Advisor of the 02 Major Project’s Overall Group attended the meeting. Vice Presidents Huang Songtao and Zhou Qigang from Youyan Research Institute also participated in the acceptance meeting. Other attendees included the lead auditor from the accounting firm, user representatives, and project responsibility experts.

Also attending were the lead auditor from the accounting firm, user representatives, project responsibility experts, project (subject) leaders, personnel from local science and technology authorities, and key members from the project unit.
The project has developed a complete set of technologies for the preparation of 200mm silicon single-crystal polished wafers and 200mm silicon epitaxial wafers, and has established a production line with a monthly capacity of 100,000 wafers. The project has independently developed key products including 200mm silicon single-crystal lightly doped polished wafers, 200mm silicon single-crystal heavily doped polished wafers, 200mm silicon epitaxial wafers, and 200mm buried-layer epitaxial wafers, reaching a technology level of 0.13 microns. These products have been adopted in large quantities by leading domestic integrated circuit manufacturers and have also secured positive orders from renowned overseas manufacturers. After undergoing multiple stages of acceptance—including review of task documentation, financial documentation, on-site testing, on-site inspections, acceptance at the task meeting, and acceptance at the financial meeting—experts attending the meeting concluded that all tasks and indicators had been successfully achieved. They unanimously agreed that the project and its two sub-projects had passed both task and financial acceptance, and awarded them an excellent rating.
This project is a key technology commercialization initiative that Youyan Semiconductor has been focusing on in recent years. The smooth implementation of the project has facilitated the upgrading of China’s 200mm silicon material industry, enabling the company to achieve a double win—both in terms of scientific research outcomes and market economic benefits—and promoting the optimization and adjustment of the company’s product structure. Currently, there is strong market demand for 200mm silicon wafers, and the product boasts promising growth prospects. The project entity will seize these market opportunities, expand its market share, and pursue sustained, stable development.
