Dr. Lijun Yao, the Chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Konfoong Materials International Co., Ltd. (KFMI), was admitted to Harbin Institute of Technology in 1985, obtaining B.S., M.S., and Ph.D degrees in Metal Materials and Heat Treatment. In 1994, he received a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan to study in Japan and obtained another Ph.D degree in Japanese Engineering.

In 2005, Dr. Lijun Yao led a group of Ph.D degree holders from oversea to return to China and launch their own businesses. They are engaged in the R&D and production of ultra-high purity metal materials and sputtering targets for VLSI chip manufacturing. The developed products are successfully applied to the globally leading 5nm FinFET+ technology, and they have supplied in large quantities to world-class semiconductor companies such as TSMC and SMIC. KFMI has filled the industry void in China, ended the oligopoly by multinational companies from United States and Japan, and become a successful case of solving the "bottleneck dilemma" in the field of chip materials.

Dr. Lijun Yao is one of the world's recognized experts for mastering the core technology of sputtering targets for ultra-high purity metals and integrated circuit manufacturing, and has accumulated 685 invention patent applications in total.

Founded by Dr. Lijun Yao, KFMI has won the national manufacturing "Single-Category Championship" and was successfully listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
